What is mildew? The term mildew refers to a group of phytopathogenic fungi that causes diseases in plants.What can you see?In general, mildew is found on the upper side of the leaf, but there are exceptions. The leaf looks as if it has been dusted with powder.What can you do?Keep humidity low and keep your growing area clean.

About powdery mildew

Powdery Mildew is also know as Odium. Before any symptoms become visible the leaf starts to develop blister-like patches, which are followed by the characteristic white powder where the blister was. The leaf looks as if it has been dusted with powder. In general mildew is found on the upper side of the leaf, but there are exceptions. One type of mildew only grows on the underside of the leaf, so it’s no surprise that this often gets overlooked. However, as the disease advances, the leaves can end up being completely covered in this white layer and it can even colonise the buds, with subsequent losses in crop size and quality.

How to prevent the disease?

The best treatment against these types of fungi is prevention; once they have set in and developed, they are very difficult to eradicate, sometimes even with chemical fungicides. Try to prevent spores coming in from elsewhere and contaminating your plants by keeping your growing area clean. You can do this by using only clean equipment and washing your hands thoroughly before entering. And CANNACURE can be sprayed on the plant to prevent mildew.

Solutions for controlling the pest

Check older leaves regularly for light yellow discolouration and fungal growth.

• You can remove suspicious leaves and keep these in a resealable freezer bag along with some moist paper in a warm place. After two days you can check the leaves for mildew, maybe using a magnifying glass.
• Remove any contaminated leaves, but also make sure that you don’t spread the disease yourself. Make sure that you wash your hands regularly, preferably with an alcohol solution.
• Burn any infected materials.
• Use CANNACURE on the plant to control this disease.
• Don’t forget that you’ll need to repeat the spraying several times.

It is a very simple piece of growing equipment, yet worth its weight in gold for beginners trying to work out there new set up.

So you have more than two grow lights in your set up and you want to turn them all on at the same time, simple you think! you go to buy two normal timers for a tenner from your local hard wear shop, but the very next day you grow into your grow room, and the lights are off but the timer is set, whats going on? you think!

Well just as your mate said you need a timer contactor, you can turn on 1 too 24 grow lights on with one of our timer contactors, the one in the picture does 8 lights, the beauty of this product its highly power rated, so it wont blow the fuse board, yet is a safety devise, most can be run from a double plug socket, so there is no need for loads of extension leads all over the room floor. A contactor can turn a two plug point into a eight way plug point, but it does it properly and with safety in mind. Simple plug it all together and set the timer “Bingo” the lights come on and off all at the same time with out blowing the fuse board.
